[Small Business Rant!] As a small business owner, I had to pay over $1000 to incorporate my LLC in Massachusetts. Then I had to pay an annual report filing fee of over $500 per year. AND I had to pay another several hundred dollars per year to keep my LLC in good standing. Thats about $2000 per year just to keep my doors open legally. I called CorpNet the other day to dissolve my business in Lexington, Massachusetts, as we have moved. It cost me $200 for the privilege of shutting my doors. I will re-incoporate here in Arizona. Fee? A couple of hundred bucks. Oh, and no annual report filing requirement. And a lower state income tax. And people ask why small businesses have a hard time surviving, and why were fleeing states like Mass. and Calif. #duh
