Small southern city life - Yesterday, I saw some great high school art in town on a secret tour. Two different schools with different approaches. My high school in Cleveland, Tennessee never got past kindergarten art.. mostly unglazed clay works and a lot of pencil drawings of people for the advanced. I remembered, looking at the work last night, my high school teacher saying we would definitely NOT be learning abstract art because it was for communists. After the tour, I did a studio visit with a painter I know from over one decade ago, then saw a fun but disappointing show by G Love & the Special Sauce. At the show I ran into a friend from high school and we traded Mexico stories. On the way, home.. checked out a new gallery in town and talked to a friend about curating work in it.
