Smart-Phone Reminders Its really quite amazing all the things I forget to do. I started noticing it several years ago but now its really out of control. My mom used to say, Dont forget to brush your teeth. Teachers used to say, Dont forget to do your homework. Supervisors used to say, Dont forget the information for our project. Since Im an eternal optimist, I can look at those statements and say, Thats all stuff from yesterday. Today, Im much more focused, mature and aware, rarely forgetting important things. And besides, I write everything down so that I dont forget. But of course, after I write it down, I forget where I put the reminder. I guess I could use the reminder app on my Smart Phone, but then I would have to be intelligent enough to program it AND remember to use it. I mean really...being intelligent and remembering things arent even faintly related. I performed well enough in school to remember the smallest details of an assignment, but upon arriving at class, I often discovered that I left the house without a pencil. The Bible uses the term remember plenty of times, including instances when God remembers something. Reading between the lines, I immediately ask, If God remembers something, does it also mean that God forgets something else? Ah, now were talking theology, so how about a good pastoral answer? No, God doesnt forget...anything. God doesnt forget to change the seasons, forget to teach fish how to swim, or even forget put breath into our lungs. So why do we need to be told that God remembers things? We need to be told so that we understand that God ALWAYS remembers things. God doesnt need reminders; people (like me) need reminders. Nobody really wants to forget anything today. Our Smart Phones should be the only thing we need to make sure we dont forget. But theres so many things to remember, what happens if I forget to program the reminder in my phone? I suppose it doesnt really matter. After all, I left my ringer on silent and I cant remember where I left my Smart Phone last night. Thank goodness its Sunday; Im a pastor so I know Im supposed to be at church. I just hope I dont forget what Im supposed to do while Im at church today. (Ill be fine as long as you remind me when you get there.) Dont forget FaithSpring Church today at 10:30am!
