Smoke from the Lodgepole Fire lingers on the valley floor this - TopicsExpress

Smoke from the Lodgepole Fire lingers on the valley floor this morning, obscuring the view of nearby hills and it seems to suit my psyche today as this marks a year since Kevin Cox: brother, father, son, husband, uncle, left this earth at the tender age of 52. I once wrote to him about parallel universes, asking what he thought about this latest scientific hypothesis. His reply was that unless a person could really get to one, their existence was a moot point. When I first heard he had brain cancer, I thought “Go to a parallel universe, bro’!” So, maybe he’s there now, where all of us are still capable of enjoying his energy, wit and intellect in real time instead of on this astral plane where we’re left with memories. I don’t think he would approve of my hanging on to grief, so I’ve made an effort to get over it, but I still miss him every day. The smoke is clearing in the time I’ve taken to write this. Guess I’ll pay tribute to Kevin by listening to some Danny Schmidt, a musician Kevin told me about and I embraced with equal enthusiasm, take a bike ride that Kevin would taunt me as being too slow, and generally remember that great guy who was my brother. I was lucky to have known him.
