Send your 300- to 500-word story of overcoming your fear and an accompanying image to photos@smliv by August 13, 2014. Reader submitted photos are unpaid but those selected are rewarded with publication in our nationally distributed magazine. SML covers the southern Appalachians and celebrates the area’s environmental riches, its people, culture, music, arts, history, and special places. Each issue brings the Appalachians to life.
