I am very happy with this since I am dealing with some major physical and emotional clearing - retracing old illnesses and emotions. After the dragonfly flying into my forehead - right at the third eye location - and the eagle flying into my chest (eaglewolf) a few days ago, today some snake medicine appeared. I took the dogs - Onyx and Crystal - for a walk over by the Poudre River, behind a fish hatchery along the bike trail route. We had a good, fast walk around the pond for about an hour and then we went to the river so Onyx could be blissfully happy as he jumped in. Crystal walked in to her knees and drank some water and then retreated to the bank with me. After Onyx had enough, came to the bank and shook water all over me, we three headed towards an open field on the north end of the pond. We walked along the river to get there and I saw a man - probably in his fifties - teaching a young woman fly-fishing techniques. Time for another teaching as I watched them. It seemed the young woman was having a great deal of difficulty casting this way. Then I saw a picnic table with 6 to7 mentally challenged people next to the access road across from where these two fished. The young woman learning to fly-fish was one of this group. And she was obviously have a great time; laughing as she tried as she concentrated on the task at the same time. Great energy here. As I watched she hooked a fish - a large one by the bend in the rod. The man started telling her this was great and he was coming to help her land the fish. He made his way into the river and came up beside her; where together they got the fish into the net he had waiting. She lifted the fish up above the net to get a better look at it and her face beamed with a huge grin. It made me grin as well. In a second everything shifted as a hawk swooped down and took the fish - right off the hook. Everything stopped for a second and then the man started saying how sorry he was that she lost her fish. But that she had done a great job of catching it. He hoped she was ok. And the young woman? She laughed and jumped and laughed some more. She obviously was thrilled with the hawk’s visit. Maybe mentally challenged, but not spiritually. Then it was time for Onyx, Crystal and I to head home. Onyx decided he needed to mark his spot one last time for today and then we turned towards some stairs to take us back to the car. And on the ground was a long snakeskin. Probably five feet long. Yet another rebirth totem, but this one coupled with initiation and wisdom. A symbol of change and healing - something I welcomed quickly as I stood there. Time for rebirth into new powers and wisdom - I could sure use some of that. Onyx saw it and pulled back, since he has learned a healthy respect for snakes in the land of rattlesnakes. Then he saw it was just the skin and he sniffed it as Crystal joined him with her nose going as well. As they finished their examination I reached over and touched the skin to connect with the spiritual energy of the snake relative. And immediately felt I had permission to take about one third of the skin with me, which I did. Snakes shed their skin when it is time for them to grow again. They literally outgrow their skin, which splits along their body and they then crawl out of it. They come out 20 to 30 % larger than before the shedding. Hence the rebirth and growth element of their medicine. So, in just two days, I had the dragonfly fly into my third eye, the eagle bounce off my chest and the snake offer me his old cloak. All came to me and offer their medicine. And the teachings and medicine of the fish - since the eagle carried a fish and I watched he woman land a fish and then lose it to a hawk. Wonder who will appear next? This is the time to go into nature and seek the guidance and help of the natural world, the Earth Mother and all her creatures.
