Snake bite management in pediatrics: -------------------------------------------------- Stabilize ABCs. -Start an IV line and draw labs on the unaffected extremity. -Treat hypotension with crystalloid boluses. -Order 4-6 units of Micrurus fulvius antivenin immediately (takes 30 minutes to reconstitute). -Treat active bleeding with correction of coagulopathy with FFP (10-30 mL/kg/dose). -Treat anemia due to bleeding with PRBC transfusion. -Remove all constricting items (e.g. rings, clothing) on the affected extremity. -Encourage victim to remain calm, cleanse the wound with soap and water. -Splint/immobilize extremity below the level of the heart. -Treat pain -Tetanus prophylaxis is indicated. -Antibiotic prophylaxis is generally not indicated. -Discuss any significant envenomation with the poison center. -If presenting
