Snakes, a very real part of our existence on land. This guy, the Common Bronzeback Tree Snake, locally called rukha, is nonvenomous. Thin and long (about 2.5 feet), sporting two colours - a blackish dorsal body and yellowish ventral, and flattened head. A white bindi smack in the middle of its forehead, not seen in any other species, is its identifying feature. Cool sighting for me... being my first upclose interaction with Rukha. My local companion was convinced hes highly venomous and described neurotoxic bite symptoms. Research is a wonderful thing though. Especially given our species whose belief systems often come rooted in fear. Rukha feeds on lizards and frogs.
