“So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this - TopicsExpress

“So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, ‘On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided’ ” (Genesis 22:14). God had asked Abraham to offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. At the crucial moment, God stopped him and provided a ram that was caught in a thicket. Abraham named the place “The Lord will provide.” When I think of provision I think of things like groceries, clothing and vehicles. I was surprised to find that the meaning of the Hebrew word “provide” is “see.” That is to be expected because the English word “provision” has the word “vision” in it. When Abraham declared that “God will provide” he was acknowledging that God sees. “Pro-vision” means that God sees in advance. He knows what is coming and nothing that happens to us will ever surprise Him. He is like the AWACs aircraft that scans the skies over our naval fleet so that no enemy aircraft can surprise us. The name stands for Airborne Warning and Control. When enemy approach our fleet we can scramble our jets to intercept them long before they get near one of our carriers. In the same way we live under the protective eye of God and the enemy is always in His sight. God is our Airborne Warning and Control. He is always ready for any challenge we face. Something may surprise us, but nothing ever surprises Him. When Abraham arrived at the crisis moment regarding his son, God was already there because God had seen beforehand. Because God saw He had arranged for a ram to be available. Whatever situation we may face today, God has seen it and He is with us. The “things” we need will be available because God has seen beforehand what we will need.
