So Buds new overseas owners know they need to reverse the slide in market share in the last several years, as tastes have changed and craft beers have emerged. Ive always loved the Clydesdales and the Americas beer connect. But bottom line: Bud is tirewater. It sucks. Always has. It was my first beer, probably about 13. It wasnt long before I discovered better tirewater. For years, I was a domestic beer snob (with the exception of Rolling Rock because it actually tasted good; and Lone Star because Jerry Retzloff did a brilliant marketing job connecting Lone Star with the Texas music scene of the 70s and 80s, and every gig you went to, cold Lone Star longnecks were plentiful). I would only drink Heineken or Corona, Then along came the craft beers. Who can drink bottled beer anymore? It sucks. Anyway, back to Bud -- if their owners think they can just cozy up again to the 20-something demo without radically improving the taste (and not with fru-fru additives), forget it. The Budweiser brand is doomed.
