This weekend, we are loading into Playhouse Square Center for The SantaLand Diaries. If I have to spend the next week with Christmas music bouncing around my head, so do you. With that being said, here are my all time top 5 Christmas songs: 5. Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Andy Williams) I love pop songs in 3/4 time. They sound so swirly and off-kilter (see also: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). 4. Winter Wonderland (Jewel) Because I want to be her boyfriend. 3. Silent Night (any version, but particularly Johnny Cash or Boyz II Men) It is a quiet snowfall on Christmas Eve in music form. Also, its hopeful and sad at the same time. 2. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Amy Grant or Kermit the Frog) It was the song playing when I got my first dog. The original lyrics were quite depressing. For example, Hang a shining star upon the highest bough, was originally Until then well have to muddle through somehow. 1.
