So Happy that I got a chance to interact with an Indian Vet who is practising at USA. He was so patient and friendly to answer all my questions .I was asking him about what is that "Salt Water" way of euthanising pets in so called"No Kill" shelters in Chennai...He said well its Potassium Chloride (KCl) which they inject into the animals heart which makes the heart rate increase so high that the heart stops to function after extreme pain as if the animal is being stomped or getting drowned..WHile Pentorbital lethal injections are quicker they dont use this on all strays cause its costly. He told his experiences in the life of a surgeon on how many healthy animals they had to sacrifice to learn it ,many rats to be decaptitated with or without anaesthesia for research works and one fine day he made a decision not to eat meat because he said he fell in love with animals although initially he joined Veterinery Science since he didnt get into Medicine... He said his whole perspective changed after interacting with these speechless loving animals and birds... Also I asked him why is Midline Spaying done in USA than the flank (side) Spaying..He said flank spaying causes the femal dog to lose a lot of blood when compare to midline spaying...Midline is where the muscles end so the bleeding would be less he said..well there are other cosmetic apects and medical reasons too..Overall it was a pleasant experience listening to a Vet and how his profession became his passion to help animals! He said on the whole humans are very selfish for the animals being subjected to so much of cruelty and atleast we could give back something to nature when we have borrowed so much from her... Atleast save a life..give home for a needy animal..avoid meat...or donate for a good cause..plant a tree....so many ways to help...Below just posted a link on the various euthanisa methods people have invented to remove a life..when they are not gods.. rci.rutgers.edu/~rlharris/_private/ch10.htm#6
