So I am at a conference today for catholic educators. I actually love this conference and look forward to it each year. I know many people dont enjoy this conference but I dont mind if I dont agree with everything that a speaker might says. I have noticed that other people get very bent-out-of-shape when a speaker doesnt vibe with their beliefs. A few years ago we had an elderly, blind nun give a very informative talk and one of her main points was that people not of the Catholic church should not be teaching in Catholic schools. Well this didnt sit well with many people. I enjoyed her talk - she was passionate and was willing to make the unpopular point. It might of been unenlightened and even prejudice but come on - what a show! I appreciated the position she made and I could see why she felt that way. I went up after the talk and visited with her a bit - very interesting and intelligent person. Where else would someone like me have the opportunity to visit with an elderly, blind nun from New England who thinks non-Catholics should be removed from Catholic education? I love meeting people with different viewpoints from my own.
