Well today went in a different direction then planned. We were to visit the Avonlea Village but today was sunny with no clouds and it hit 30 degrees pretty quickly, so the idea of walking around in that exploring a village was NOT my idea of fun, so we went for a drive to get more landscape photos where the was not enough light yesterday but unfortunately the sun was too high so we gave up on that plan. Off to Charlottetown...headed to the wharf and the exploring began, we did not walk too far before we came across something I looked up before arriving....Peakes Wharf Boat Tours....well lo and behold they had a tour heading out in 20 minutes and it was the Seal Watch tour....I KNEW we shouldve come down here earlier this week....well the 2.5 hour trip was worth the coin as they were a great creek with great info and the time watching the seals was priceless....we had lots of time to watch them, the captain backed up to the sand bar several times to give us enough opportunities to get near enough....so many more pictures to go through....lol! We return and visited more shops....OMG, how will I get it all home???? We stopped at the Anne of Green Gables Store to grab some items for family and then wandered down a block or two of shops and patio restaurants...what a beautiful area. Stopped to photograph a gorgeous church and then sought a cool place to have a cold drink....well, we stumbled into the Peakes Quay. No intentions to eat but we were overheated and tired and a band was to begin playing on a community space below us and the breeze and shade on the patio overlooking the wharf was too inviting to leave too soon. Well we have had many meals out here, a 1.5 lb lobster that I very much enjoyed BUT this meal tonight was the BEST meal that we have had on this island. If you come to the island come to Charlottetown and have the new Haddock Cakes or their awesome Summer Salad. The Haddock cake melted in your mouth, you groaned on your first fork full. The summer salad was fresh mixed greens, red onions, strawberries, sliced almonds and a creamy feta (goat) with a Blueberry Balsamic Vinaigrette....the only thing that could have been better was to have some scallops with it instead of the grilled chicken breast...or those damn haddock cakes.
