So I am home at Kalista -- and this years Big Lofoten Trip is - TopicsExpress

So I am home at Kalista -- and this years Big Lofoten Trip is over. It was exactly four weeks ago that I drove from Kalista. Brief summary: I had more bad weather on this Lofoten trip than I have ever had before, alas. That means the harvest of portfolio-worthy landscape photos will be rather meager: the right kind of light is alpha and omega for my photos. I have not even begun to dealing with copying and sorting my Nikon raw files -- but my gut-level feel, based on the shooting experience, is that I might be able to produce 3 or 4 portfolio-worthy photos. That was the bad news -- but its also the *only* bad news. For nothing went wrong, this time -- no RV mishaps, medical issues or other woes. Good news: I had my 87-year old Dad travel with me for 3.5 days! He had never been to Lofoten before, and much enjoyed seeing it -- despite that we spent one full, rainy day in a non-travelling state. And he much enjoyed our two whale steak dinners, which I quite expertly cooked for us in my RV! I also ate quite a few delicious whale steak dinners on my own. While I only wrote one new, complete poem, The Modes of Motion, on this trip -- I had many new good poetry ideas, which were duly jotted down in my note file. So there is new material to work on. I worked out, in my head while driving, all the core content for a most interesting philosophical essay I want to write -- its about morality. Once its been duly bullet-point outlined, it should not be hard to write. My current goal now is to have it drafted by the end of July. Watch this space for further developments. Finally, I brainstormed some new ideas for a poetry anthology book which my fellow poet-friend John Kagebein and I have long entertained as a hypothetical co-producing project. Now, that book finally has some conceptual meat on its so formerly hypothetical body. We have set a tentative publishing date of February 14, 2015.
