So, I built a Garden Gate in the form of a Torii, the Shinto Gates - TopicsExpress

So, I built a Garden Gate in the form of a Torii, the Shinto Gates that mark Shrines in Japan. After fencing, we need a good solid front gate for the garden that would stand the stress of the hinges, etc. I used very large locust poles that were on the property when we move here. The cross braces are 19th Century Oak I pulled from a downed barn years ago. Best of all, the top plate is a huge piece of 3 inch thick American Chestnut floor board from the same board. I was loathe to cut it, but its been in a stack for many years. I wanted to build a gate like this since we moved here 8 years ago.
