So, I debated whether or not to post anything. But, Michael and I caught an episode on 20/20 tonight about Young Guns (Gun safety with children of all ages). It was a AWESOME episode and a friendly reminder of the importance and the thought process of kids and guns. It also brought up the importance of inquiring with your childs friends parents about gun safety (i.e. sleepovers, etc.) I couldnt believe when the hidden cameras started to roll how many children (4 and 5 year olds) knew they shouldnt touch the gun and did anyway and would point the barrel right into their little faces, which is the natural instinct of children. I also couldnt believe how many parents kept their guns right on their night stands, small dressers, or accessible to children and loaded in the closet and how many children knew where their guns were (when the parents thought they were too young to know). Regardless of your views on guns, it is a fact of todays world that we all have to deal with, no matter if you keep one in your house or not. Just a friendly reminder to really evaluate the safest place for your guns. Being able to protect yourself is important and I know accessibility to it is key in a home invasion for example, but your children are priceless as well. Im not promoting or against guns, everyone is entitled to their own opinions! :) No FB bashing, please ;)
