So... I feel like I should have been warned about the Ryukyu Flying Foxes prior to one screeching at me and almost causing me to void my bowels. Turns out, they are harmless, Okinawan natives who feed on fruit, but they get rather large. There seems to be wildlife a-plenty on this island, with a pleasant absence of bugs weve grown so tolerant of in Florida. I found this article rather interesting, and with a (hopefully) upcoming hiking trip tomorrow, Ill spot some of these beauties.
