So, I finally got to wash my Tree of Promise shirt today and it came out looking pretty bad. Before the fire, I wouldve chunked it, thinking Id just buy a new one next time. Losing everything makes you appreciate the worn. That shirt has 2 different colors of paint, from 2 houses I helped (a little) paint on 2 different work weekends. It has a little paint fingerprint from Annie touching my sleeve. It is dingy and frayed and I love it. It brings memories of a time I got to serve my cherished community with my family. It reminds me of a time we got to give back and pay it forward. It may be my new favorite Tshirt and I will wear it to the next Tree of Promise weekend with pride. (and maybe a tank top)
