So I finally saw Zero Dark Thirty last night. Its been a long time since Ive hated a movie as much as I hated that movie. Its ridiculously and unashamedly pro-torture. It even gets whiny when Obama suggests that maybe the United States shouldnt torture. It doesnt acknowledge any nuance in our relationship with the Arab countries - the Americans are all unequivocably good and the foreign Arabs are all unequivocably evil. Theres almost no character development in the script, which is good because the acting is almost uniformly terrible. Man, what a piece of crap. And it got nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress for an absolutely wooden Jessica Chastain. Thats just depressing.
