So, I found and old block of basswood and figured Id do a practice carving since Ive been longing to carve wood again. I figured Id share a bit about my process. First, using a carpenters pencil, I draw a rough sketch of the face. I got a bit carried away and went to the second stage before I could take a photo of the first. This bass wood was purchased from Utrecht and is not the same quality as the wood youd acquire from a logger or a lumber supply company, so its grain is a bit sloppy and difficult, but Im skilled enough to work around that ultimately.
