So I guess Ill start off this little jaunt. Forgive me for assuming, but I assume that most here have some slight affinity for gaming...heres a bit of Foolosophy (Trademark of Foo Inc., Ogden Industries) posed in gaming terminology, purely for your reading pleasure and...or...consideration. Playing a game recently, I summoned my healing companion and went for a walk. I accidentally walked into a group of bad guys, a big group. Excited to see how good my companion actually was, I just stood in the middle of the group and let them beat me up. It certainly was a good test...arrows flying everywhere, swords and clubs whirling around, and I kept getting thrown into walls and even off of a cliff, twice. Good times. Then I had an iceberg dead ahead, capn moment as I noticed my companion, the Angel of Protection, just kind of flying there off to the side, not really looking terribly interested in anything that was happening. Im sitting there watching my character being trampled and mauled to death by fifty bad guys, and the angel on my shoulder wasnt even paying attention... Then I declared the walk a success and slaughtered them all. You see, I was fifty levels above the bad guys, and while it looked horrific, I wasnt actually taking any damage at all. I couldnt help but sit there post-experiment and wonder, how often does this exact same scenario play itself out in my own life, except everybodys level is hidden and I think that Im actually getting killed? How often do I turn to my healing companion in fear and wrath demanding to be saved from my troubles? ...Troubles that I could banish with a flick of my wrist if I were seeing clearly? Im not promoting arrogance in self ability here, I am proposing less crying wolf and more attempting to make the wolf cry. And please remember, dont take out the difference on your healer, whoever or whatever that may be in life. To wrap this up with gaming terms again, we have a saying... Rule number one: do NOT make your healer mad when youre on a tier 2 epic dungeon run. Rule number two: dont make your healer mad, ever, or you wont HAVE tier 2 epic dungeon runs.
