So, I had my doctors appointment today and I was declared cured! He still wants me to go for the radioactive iodine treatment, though, just to be sure they got it all. My numbers are perfect for the treatment right away. So, Im dosed on Thursday (apparently, we missed the Wednesday window by about a half an hour--theyre very finicky with their nuclear medicine--sheesh) and glow until Monday. I will be hiding out at my parents house in the window and will return to work on Tuesday. I go for my scan that Friday. I start on my Synthroid on Monday morning and the BEST PART is that I can get off this ridiculous diet on Sunday morning. Im thinking an Asiago bagel from Panera slathered in a nice thick layer of butter with a HUGE cup of coffee with a gallon of creamer will do me perfectly that morning. :) Really, the only downsides of this are missing a few more days of work, missing TOTS-EAT food drive (the kids are still doing it without me because theyre awesome like that) and missing our McKennas Spirit Night on Monday. And, I wont be able to see Dracula at the Little Theatre. :( But, in the long term, these are all prices Im MORE than willing to pay to be cured and cleared of cancer. The light at the end of the tunnel is closer now than ever and Im feeling really good.
