So I have a couple questions about Obamacare. I have ran some numbers this morning and I ask - 1) How are people going to pay, is it coming out of the paychecks or do you pay it up front. 2) I am assuming since its a tax credit and its calculated on your income that you will have to pay all up front and be credited at the end of the year as a refund - this is how the tax credits that I have seen work..... Now for an individual making $24,000 a year. Here are your numbers based on this Your premium will be $3359, you will receive a tax credit of $1773 leaving you paying $1587 by the time its all said and done - but remember this is all based on income so you will pay all up front and be credited back at the end of the tax year AFTER you file. Your out of pocket expenses will be $5200 a year which means that your totals that you pay AFTER deductibles will go toward this number and medication does not count toward out of pocket. FOr procedures and you will pay 23% of the cost of the appt - that means a check up/re-eval that is billed for $180 (normal) you will foot the bill of almost $42. Not sure what items they will or will not count toward the Out of POcket expenses. With all that said, we have a plan that is 90/10 (probably dropping it to a lower one because our rates our now going UP) and with only have that and an out of pocket of $700 a person or $1500 for a family (and it has been lower in the past years) this is the FIRST year in 10 years we have ever ever ever met it was met 9 months into the year. Which means if I can think of anything I have 3 months to get it done. Now with all of this. A healthy individual making $24K a year - is Never going to reach their out of pocket - That same 20+ year old making 24K a year and getting paid every 2 weeks for a total of 26 paychecks will see $190.23 taken out of EVERY paycheck. When a paycheck BEFORE Taxes is only $923 every 2 weeks - your paycheck will now be $732 THEN you will still have taxes for Federal, Social Security and WV (or your state and local) taken out Which could easily drop that down to $600-$650 a paycheck every 2 weeks. WELCOME TO OBAMACARE!!!!!!! Believe me after running the numbers it is no better for anyone else. A family of 4 has a premium of $10,019 kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/
