So I have some friends who are facing a really hard thing right now. The lovely rottweiler they have raised from the time he was four or five weeks old (now is almost 11) has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his nose. Upon learning there is nothing that would cure him, and the rigors of putting him through treatments that would only prolong his life a few months at best, they have decided to keep him comfortable, give him the medication that should help slow the growth and wait for him to tell them when hes had enough. Theyve had to go through a really hard time to get to this point, even up to a vet who made them feel they were bad pet parents because they werent going to put him through radiation and chemotherapy. Now I understand that not all folks may feel their dogs are their children but still.... I hope youll join with me in asking that God will give them peace and lift them up as they face this inevitable loss.
