So I hear that on THANKSGIVING, not Black Friday a lot of stores - TopicsExpress

So I hear that on THANKSGIVING, not Black Friday a lot of stores have decided to open their doors as early as 5pm, and Calexicos GRAN PLAZA in an effort to beat the mall and other retailers has decided to open its doors at 6pm. I also hear a lot of you are in disagreement with this decision and frankly I find it insulting as a lot of these companies say they operate taking into consideration FAMILY VALUES, well let me tell you something that families value, they value spending Thanksgiving with their loved ones. No one should be spending that time at work. Companies that are planning to open up at a time that impedes you from spending Thanksgiving with your loved ones only value the money they can make, YOU as a person are worth nothing to them, because if they valued you, they would understand how this time is important for you and your Family. Its bad enough that stores are opening at midnight, most people cant even get a good nights sleep before heading into the hell that is Black Friday. I am glad a lot of retailers decided to be closed on Black Friday and some of them are not opening till 7am. You may be asking why am I writing this, well its because I hear a lot of you complaining about it and while I am on your side I see no one taking action when theres still time to do so. You see, employers can get away with this because employees allow it, one person alone cannot go into the managements office and declare they are not please with the Black Friday situation it takes most if not all of the employees to do that and to plan a walk out, a sick out, or just plainly voicing their opinion to the company. A lot of people fear losing their jobs, but you cant lose your job over voicing your opinion in this manner. Think about it people, what will happen next year? Will stores be open all day on Thanksgiving? Whats next Christmas? And you know what has been my experience working on New Years opening at 7am? There has been NO CUSTOMERS for HOURS! If something is not done now, there is a risk of losing our Holidays all together to corporate greed. As for shoppers do you really need to get a TV that badly that you will make line since 8pm to get in a midnight and come out at 2am from the store? Is that Blu-Ray player really worth fighting another person for? Honestly I have found way better deals through online shopping in a few minutes than in Black Friday running around stores for hours. If you do not wish for your store or the mall to be open so early I suggest you at the very least start a petition amongst your co workers and as mall workers. I can tell you this year neither me nor my family will be participating in Black Friday because we believe that it is disrespectful to YOU as employees and to YOUR FAMILIES that you cannot spend time with them just so we can get a tv or a purse or a game or a toy, and so that companies can make sure you spend your money in their store as opposed to their competitors who are not opening till midnight or 7am. And just in case you were wondering here is a list of stores that will not be open on Thanksgiving because they believe in FAMILY VALUES and some of these same stores will not open until 7am on Black Friday.
