So, I just received a call from a phone number that I dont recognize. The caller identified herself as a representative from Bank of America, wanting to talk to me about credit card information. She requested my date of birth for identification purposes. I politely declined, and told her the reason. I told her that I dont know who she is, dont recognize her incoming phone number, and that I am a criminal investigator who has investigated cases of identity theft. Therefore, I requested her bank to conduct all information gathering by U.S. Mail and that I would not give any personal information out to people I do not know over the phone. Identity theft is real. We should all be careful.
