So I just washed my hair and Im sitting here trying to wind down - TopicsExpress

So I just washed my hair and Im sitting here trying to wind down and sleep early coz Ive got a business meeting tomorrow. Business! I am going to be on a record, a record that features my reading, and a CD too! I have been making some recordings with Tres Gone over the past few months, and a more gentlemanly and far-out gang of talented people could not be found. We will be releasing one of our songs on the Voodoo Donut record label, and there may be a couple versions (a short and an extended version, with the extended version actually being a separate recording, a long psychedelic version of the piece) and anyway what I was going to tell you about is Im reading Tom Wolfe! Yeah, Tom Wolfe, old hat you say. Well, sure, along with Norman Mailer and Henry Miller and Gonzo himself, all those lusty guys with alien twinkles in their eyes, surrrrre, but let me tell you, I have never read Wolfes SEMINAL WORK before. You know the one: The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby. I never read the Kool-Aid Acid Test one either, so you see I have a lot of catching up to do. I have only read Wolfes fiction from the 80s and 90s. Really! I know, I know, SZ, you told me to read this when we were teenagers, but Im stubborn. I get to things when I get to things, and now Im getting to this thing and I feel like he is KIN. I think that (yes other than being a surrealist author and novelist and comedian and whatever I am) I need to do some real traveling and write articles like these. Ill just try to keep washing my hair and gobbling vitamins and staying alive, and get to it. I mean, words. I cant get enough of these WORDS. Humanity is very real to me, but there is nothing like the thrill of caressing it, and to a degree, recreating it in an unforgettable way with words. PS: A train is going by and its got on the brakes in a funny way and it is screeching and sounds like someone playing the rim of a crystal goblet, and the goblet is being played, and it is being played as the train goes around each curve, and the muscles of the goblet player are seized with a nervous delirium because he cannot stop playing that note; and there, it is gone.
