So I just watched a Netflix documentary entitled Serial Killer Culture about the quirky business entrepreneurs, artists, and snake oil salesmen who peddle serial killer merch and memorabilia to a select demographic of collector. Featured in said documentary are two pathetic filk-singers who call themselves The World Famous Crawlspace Brothers. These two scholars write out-of-tune, tone-deaf folk songs about the quirky exploits of famous incarcerated murderers thru out history. They are desperate. They are awkward. They write bad songs. Their segment within this film has to be intentional for I feel as if I am watching the most Ishtar-like inspired lost footage of some Christopher Guest mocumentary. Waiting For Guffman had more depth. Were they not so douchebaggery, they would be almost unfulfilling. I urge any film-nerd to check out this documentary if only to witness the spectacle that are this hapless horror-con outcast duo; for you too, with open mouth, will be astounded at the mediocrity. There are gaming nerds. There are anime nerds. There are Star Trek nerds. There are horror-movie nerds. There are even gun-show nerds. And way , way, way down that list - there are The World Famous Crawlspace Brothers. Way down. youtu.be/D9eYYth49o8
