So I need to start writing out some of my stories...eventually I will get around to putting things down in some sort of order. But for now I just want to tell you about the most important part - the horses! The ovewhelming feature that stands out about them is just how phenomenaly tough they are in every way. They have to be to survive out there but they also have amazing speed, endurance and surefootedness. To look at they are small and by our standards not well conformed but they nearly all have good bone and good feet that have adapted to suit their conditions. Obviously there are variations I rode 30 different horses while I was in Mongolia and one of my best was a small, weak looking chestnut that I called Notch. He was built downhill and narrow shouldered with duck feet. He wasnt comfortable but he was fast and brave. I rode buckers, bolters and horses that basically had no steering. I rode slow horses and horses that charged for the entire leg and had to be made to take a break. But every single horse got the job done for me. To the Mongolian horses I salute you!!
