So I owe HUGE props to my hodge podge last minute crew of volunteers Capt Pat Murphy, Jodi Smith, Arron Barber, TJ Pierce, Josh, Martin Jennings, Jason Cammuso and his lovely wife, Michael McGivney Sr., and anyone else who I may have missed. They did a solid this morning and showed up to teach about 42 kids the basics of fishing and all about conservation with the help of Nancy Corona from the US Fish and Wildlife Service on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Great fun had by all on the first real day of fall here in FL. Winds were so bad we had to cancel the fishing portion of the program for safety reasons. Nevertheless, with a grant from Fish Florida we were able to send every kid home with a brandy new rod and reel as well as booklets by the Anglers for Conservation, whose Hook Kids on Fishing Program we did today! Great fun for all!
