So, I put together a rough draft of a neat little game and playtested it last night. It was exciting, albeit horribly unbalanced. I was told the game had a really neat concept and I think with some more work, it could be great. AND THEN! Someone links me to what looks like a carbon copy of the game that was Kickstarted a month ago. My initial instinct is that I should just give it up, of course. But, the Kickstarted game just... doesnt look like they did a good job with it. The art is off, the graphic design is very poor (forgive me if it sounds judgy, but its bad) and according to Kicktraq, they wouldnt have even gotten funded if they hadnt put around 10k of their own money in. So my question is... should I keep making the game? If it ends up playing better, looking better, etc then it doesnt matter that the other game was made, right? What are your thoughts?
