So I spent my night reading about Top Fuel drag car engines and Id - TopicsExpress

So I spent my night reading about Top Fuel drag car engines and Id just like to report some of the insane numbers for any nerds that may appreciate it: The NHRA restricts the engines to under 8.2L, and more importantly restricts it to a single camshaft and 2 valves per cylinder. But, it doesnt restrict materials, ignition or fuel injection. So, they just make custom forged aluminum 426 Hemis and go crazy with the air/fuel numbers. Nerd stuff: 42 fuel injectors. 10 in injector hat, 16 in intake manifold, 2 per cylinder. 500psi fuel pump, 100 gallons per minute. 2 spark plugs per cylinder. 50,000 volts from two coils. The supercharger takes 600hp just to operate, and pushes up to 70psi. 70 psi of boost goddammit. And my favorite fact, the 8 individual throttle bodies intaking this air total 65 square inches. Got air, bro? This results in anywhere from 8,500-10,000hp, 1/4 mile times under 4.5 seconds, 0-100mph sprints in 0.8 seconds, 300mph 1/4 passes, exhaust temperatures of 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, and some very sticky tires. The complete engine weighs less than 500lbs, and is completely rebuilt after each run, but they have to because the engine will blow up after 10 seconds of full throttle. The shits crazy, hope I blew someones mind, cause mines blown.
