So I stop into a gas station to purchase some motor oil. I park - TopicsExpress

So I stop into a gas station to purchase some motor oil. I park legally in the handicap stall, grab my cane and walked in to purchase 2 quarts of oil and a bottle of Lipton ice tea. I pay for the items and immediately tried to figure out how to walk out juggling these items and two paper funnel cones in my hand. Then from behind me I hear this soft feminine voice, it looks to me like you are going to have a tough time trying to get out of here. Would you be offended if I offered to lend a hand. I turn around to find a young woman probably in her late twenties, standing about 52 about 115 pounds. Looking at her, I questioned if she was on the level. She said that this would be her good deed for the day so I replied, I would absolutely appreciate the assistance. So I grabbed the cones and the cane while she grabbed the oil and the tea - out the door we went. When we arrived at my car the young woman asked if I was going to be putting the oil in right now. I said that yes I was so she asked if she could help by putting the oil in for me because she could see that I was struggling just to walk. She said that she would feel bad walking away knowing that I could possibly hurt myself trying to put the oil in by myself. I figured why not, what could it hurt. So I popped open the bonnet and pointed out where I kept the rags under my hood. She then instructed me to just simply relax and she will take care of the oil. I was leaning against the car as she was putting in the oil. She told me that recently she fell on some very hard times and two complete strangers reached out and offered her help to get back on her feet. Because of the kindness these strangers showed her, she landed an amazing job and found a wonderful place to live that is reasonably priced. She went on to say that she is currently embarked on a one-year mission to do one good deed a day. I was absolutely floored, I thought it was some type of scam. I thought she was trying to pull one over on me, her way of panhandling money or trying to find a weakness in someone to take advantage of them. I felt ashamed that I judged that book by the wrong cover. When she finished putting in the oil she closed the bonnet shook my hand and said thank you to me. I looked at her shocked, I said thank you to her 4 times and then re shook her hand. Kindest like that is such a rare and valuable commodity. I felt gifted to be in the right place at the right time to help this young lady to follow through with her mission. I offered her $10 for helping me but she refused saying that would defeat the purpose of the good deed. But the offer was appreciated all the same. Im not sure if this post correctly conveys what Im trying to say about the event but I was absolutely moved by the overwhelming generosity of this young lady - a young lady that I wont never soon forget.
