So. I take Bruce to the hospital at 9am this morning for blood and platelets. He sits outside the ed for a hour and a half. Hes taken in and NO ONE goes near him for the next 4 hours. When eventually a doctor comes to see him Bruce is told his blood and platelets have been ordered. They move him to another ward where he was for a week last week. (Which was a stressful week for Bruce and I and the kids.) After six hours the blood transfusion starts which works out ok because he still would be able to come home after the two bags of blood have gone through. Oh no thats to easy. The hospital runs out of platelets so now he has to stay in there again because of a f...up. Honestly what hospital runs out of virtual things like platelets. I think its safe to say I have on very pissed of husband and Im sleeping on my own again tonight. There has to be a better system to look after people who have to go to the hospital for transfusions instead of it being a 24 hr or more exercise. There would be more then Bruce who would of went threw this crap. Things need to be changed big time. These people are struggling enough with their illnesses and the last thing they need is to be stuck in a hospital because of stupid mix ups. Maybe the powers that be need to walk in the shoes of people like Bruce for a week and I bet things would change
