So I talked my daughter into going to the Christmas Auction at the Firehouse . New people. We got there after it began so we didnt hear the rules at the beginning. I didnt spend much but when I checked out it was a little bit more than I expected. So I read back to the cashier what I had purchased and she says yes we add a 10% surcharge and then sales tax as well. I said that has never been done here. She answers - well we have to pay for the auction some how. My friend standing beside me says - No , not here you dont do that. It also was not advertised in the paper that there would be a surcharge. I believe this is a deceptive practice. If you bid on a item for a set fee you expect to pay sales tax but not a 10% surcharge on top of that. So my friends without naming the name of this auction company - may I suggest that you look at the Pennysaver in the good times and the So New Berlin Fire Dept Christmas Auction advertisement and if you see this particular auction company - do not attend!
