So, I told you about what my plan is for my diet... I didnt mention Im also planning to boost protein in-take. I dont want to go Atkins diet altogether just cause Ive been warned it can be hard on your kidneys, and heart. My friend Howard is also suppose to be joining me in this endeavor. I am also trying to form a new habit. Which is one I started when my dad got sick with cancer, and thats running. So... Yesterday, I ran .2 miles yesterday, and walked .8 miles. I dont know how that sounds to you, but not being able to run to the end of my street is pretty horrible to me. When I was young I was pretty heavy and very self conscious about it. I couldnt run far at all. My dad was 360/380 lbs at his peak. I am 64 and 270lbs last time I checked. When he got sick I started running with my buddy Battleship Ron (aka Frank Zappa, aka Ron Wynkoop, aka Kid Korea), and I got to where I was running 5 miles a day. I peaked at 7.8 miles, and then.... I stopped. Today ran .2 miles (two houses farther- and man I was huffing and puffing but determined to get farther than I did yesterday... probably a good way to have a heart attack). Afterwards I walked to Thomas Jefferson (was Jr. High) Middle school and back. 1.1+1.2 miles= 2.3. Thinking back... before I got a car I used to walk EVERYWHERE. The first time I ran away. I walked to Palm Bay. I didnt even get a car until I was 26. Now I drive everywhere... In the case of hanging out with some of my friends, ******. He doesnt like to walk unless he has a destination, but... I worry cause hes diabetic. I know, it aint my place to worry about other peoples health, but... you worry about your friends, and if he just exercised it could protect him from... Anyways... I know some of my friends are much younger, and some far older but it can be difficult at times to see the direction ones health choices take over time. Nevertheless, if you end up overweight.... Please look into a way out of it. It is harder on all your organs.... If you have heart, kidney, or lung issues... sometimes (though not always) just losing the weight can make those problems go away... Im not saying running, either... walking, weight lifting can build your muscle mass which will help you burn more weight faster. However youre going to want some kind of aerobic, because you dont want to be huffing and puffing going up your stairs, like I am... Okay, Im shutting up now. Love yall... MM
