So I took a very brief break from putting the finishing touches on my masters portfolio to finally watch 12 Years a Slave. It had been in the shrink wrapping for almost a month now because honestly I knew how it would affect my moods. Obviously, as has everyone else, I found it extraordinarily well made and powerful. And obviously I am going to need some time to unpack and put the film in its proper historical perspective.
