So I went to the Social Security web page to set up an account to track my benefits. Turns out I have worked enough to receive Medicare at age 65 and have earned enough points for S.S. benefits at age 62. If I die my spouse ( if I had one ) is eligible for more money per month if I die today than I will be eligible for at full retirement age. ??? Oh, and if I die today and have an eligible child under the age of 18 or a spouse they will get a $225 death benefit. I have neither so basically if I die today all the $$ I paid in will stay with S.S. and no one will even get $225 out of that money to bury me with. Sounds about right...
