So! I wrote a book called One Night In Italy, and lots of people asked if I was planning to go to Italy this summer. Sadly not, I kept saying, secretly wishing I was. Even if it was for one single night... Then I had an email from my agent a few weeks ago saying that a company had been in touch about possibly doing some work with me based on something Id written quite a long time ago (sorry to be mysterious! Trying not to jinx anything!) It sounded completely amazing but almost too exciting to be true. Anyway, she answered their questions and we thought that might be that, although I was still keeping my fingers crossed. Then they got in touch again, and said theyd like to meet me to discuss the situation further. Would I mind going out to see them at their office in... (you guessed it)... Italy?! It feels like a bit of a dream come true! So Im being flown out for three nights - not just one night in Italy! Three! - and staying in a lovely hotel, and basically, having a totally unexpected trip away from drizzly England. The work-thing is still very much up in the air - nothing is certain, and it might not happen at all. BUT. Italy! Im going! And I cant blummin wait! (The only small snag is that even though I went along to my Learn Italian course to research the novel, that was 18 months ago now and unfortunately all I can remember from it is the Italian for Are you married? and What is your telephone number? Hmmm. Better get swotting up before I land myself in trouble... :-) )
