So Im having somewhat of a wildlife issue at my house and need a little advice on how to handle it.. Since moving to the Laketown area, Ive been hearing neighborhood dogs barking both during the day and at night, and have realized they are responding to the coyotes in our area. Until just recently, I could sometimes hear the coyotes yelping and barking far off in the distance. No big deal. I decided to live in the country and was used to it for the most part since I grew up in Zeeland out in the country. However, lately I can hear the coyotes loud and clear and was even woke up a few times in the middle of the night to them (yes, THEM..not one, but MANY) sounding as if they were standing right out my window! Ive been seeing tracks in the snow all around our yard and even saw one run across the road in broad daylight just down the road..it looked about the size of a German Shepard but much more scrawny and mangy..then, 2 nights ago I let Raven out to do her business and then ran downstairs to switch over the laundry. All of a sudden Raven was barking hysterically and growling as if someone was here so I asked Ryan to check. Next thing I knew, Ryan was yelling at me to get up there quick! I ran upstairs only to hear them yelping and crying in the woods behind my house..and again, LOTS of tracks leading back there.. Anyways, enough of my horror movie, anyone know how to run them off our property or keep them from coming so close to our house and family? Im to the point where I dont dare go outside at night (seriously, Im a chicken..) and dont want to even let Raven out for fear shell try and be a hero and lose against a pack of them.. Any feedback would be appreciated if you know anything about this kind of situation :)
