So Im in line at the grocery store and this young lady in front of me was closely watching the register as the cashier rang up her items. She kept counting the cash in her hands and looking at the register anxiously. At the end, she asked the cashier to put some bananas back- she didnt have enough $. I told him to put them on my order. She attempted to refuse at first but then thanked me and left. As she walked out, she turned and smiled at me. The cashier told me that was nice and no one ever does that. Im telling this story not to be boastful for this very small act, but because of the 2 things this made me think. #1 - Im an idiot! Ive been grumpy all day about the stress of my Monday and this sweet lady is worried about having enough $ to buy her kids fruit. I am ashamed of my attitude today. And #2, why was this so shocking to the cashier? People, we have got to take care of each other. In the day of numerous challenges, I challenge my friends to do some random act of kindness- show compassion to someone, buy someone a coffee in the drive through line tomorrow, get some of said drive through for the homeless person close by. I guarantee you will feel blessed and (if like me) even a little embarrassed that thankfulness wasnt oozing out all day long. I will be a better person tomorrow and Ill thank God for my blessings before my feet hit the ground. Thanks for reading- I know, long story. :)
