So, Im not posting this for any discussion on the gun debate, or violence (I mean, if you want to discuss that, we can)...but I think the discussion on the origin of cultural characteristics and their non-alignment to traditional explanations (urban v. rural, state v. state) is pretty interesting. Why is violence—state-sponsored and otherwise—so much more prevalent in some American nations than in others? It all goes back to who settled those regions and where they came from.
