So, Im not the type to post my opinions, beliefs, personal problems, etc. on social media. I like Facebook as a tool to be able to share photos (and jokes!) with family and friends far and near! But this one I couldnt let go! Last week I had the privilege of attending my 2nd graduation ceremony at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and watch 170 soldiers graduate. After we watched a short slide show, the soldiers were marched in. An officer on stage asked everyone to stand, remove their covers (hats) as the colors were presented. As any proud parent or family member or friend wouldve done, I found myself sneaking a peek at the 170 very proud soldiers standing at attention and paying their respect to the flag! As I worked my eyes back toward the flag I couldnt help but notice (as we were sitting farther back in the theater) a few men with their hats still on, and then I noticed a few more men and women with their hands in their pockets or by their sides, I then even noticed a certain individual who seemed to be checking their phone, (texting Im assuming)! What is wrong with America(ns)!?!? As somebody that has had and still have family members and friends in the military, this saddened and angered me at the same time! What happened to respect? I guess one of the reasons I wrote this is that I have a lot of friends on my Facebook friend list that area kids age, and maybe this will reach them and they can make a difference! If by anyway this has offended anybody, please feel free to block me or take me off your friend list!
