So Im popping up on Facebook for the benefit of my friends who keep sounding off about how police brutality has to end. Youre right, because most of you are metal heads, and when a bad cop wants to push people around, and he cant find any black people, long hair and a patched vest will do just fine. But heres the thing: if you really think it needs to end and are willing to back up your words with action, five volunteer hours a week from you will be all it takes. As the campaign coordinator for The Committee For Professional Policing, I can use your help getting a charter amendment in the city of Minneapolis that requires all law enforcement personnel to carry individual, professional liability insurance. As a result, cops who have a history of misconduct would be uninsurable, and therefore unemployable. This is a win-win, and it will also serve as a model for other municipalities across the country. Were actually making really good progress on this. So, if you are willing to back up your words with action, give us five hours a week, and we will give Minneapolis, and then the nation, more responsible law enforcement.
