So Im torn. Ive been in theatre a long time. I appreciate the respect of sitting quietly and clapping demurely. But truth be told I just sat next to a woman while we watched Ibsens A Doll House. And by Act 3 she was loudly identifying with Nora. Now I know its rude and selfish to be so loud in your reactions that others can have their own. But I was thrilled to hear this woman mutter, oh NO he didnt for a character in a period play that too many think is outdated and overdone. This woman was not there to be a theatre critic she was there to be told a story. And she got excited by that story. Really excited. The way they got excited when this play first hit the boards. So Im trying to decide how I feel as an audience member, and Im torn.
