So, Im watching the Rifftrax of Abraxas: Defender of the Universe on Hulu while I exercise, and a little ad break pops up. The first commercial is for some drug called Vyvanse, which is supposed to treat ADHD. At this point Im tempted to go on a rant about the ADHD diagnosis epidemic, the probable causes of ADHD, and the rampant drug culture in the USA, but I wont. As with all of these drug ads, they give a laundry list of cautions at the end of the pitch, usually things like may cause drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, blah blah. This one starts out innocuously enough, and then I hear sudden death in the list. EXCUSE ME?! Lets see, what are my choices? I could change my kids diet, eliminating sugar, dyes, allergens, and all processed grain crap... or, thanks to the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complexs stranglehold on mainstream medicine, I could give them some stimulant drug that could kill them unexpectedly.
