So, Ive been giving this a lot of thought lately and have come to the conclusion that for Lent--despite the fact that I am not a Catholic--I will continue to practice it by giving up Facebook starting tomorrow and not logging back on until Easter Sunday. I came to this conclusion because, after noticing the incredible amount of time I’ve spent looking into either the screen of my computer or my phone, I have been distracted by what is going on around me--quite literally. When I’m at work, I check it constantly, when I’m with friends , I lose track of conversation, when I’m spending time with family, I am waiting for my next notification. It feels as if I am almost addicted to my phone, to my statuses and oh… to my #HashTags. So, instead, I will force myself to give up something that I use every day, multiple times a day and replace it with actual substantiating conversation, interactions, building upon my “real life” friendships and devoting my time to something that will far better my well being.
