So Ive talked to a lot of you guys about what the PSTML team (Me, Zion Kim, Melissa Diep, Asif Hilal & Kevin Palomo at the moment!) want PSTML to turn into. We want to create a marketplace of artisan goods that are hand-selected for quality, that have a story element. (how its made, lots of photos, videos of it being made, the history of the item, who were directly supporting, all this kind of stuff.) Weve completed our concept MVP, sort of. We got 22.3k in preorders. We know that people want our product, as well as similar ones. Now were fighting the battle of validating that we can market this one product on an external platform (our ecommerce website pstml). once we know that we can get a bunch of sales (either through ads, viral marketing, seo, social media) we know that we can invest resources into expanding into something bigger -- a lot bigger. Ive been feeling uneasy about PSTML -- it sounded like a good idea, a marketplace, artisan goods -- yada yada. But it was missing something - and that was a brand direction. I didnt realize it right away, I felt that something was off but couldnt quite place my finger on what it was. Zion Kim told me what it was. Its who we are, its how we act, its our attitude in all our posts, its all of this stuff combined. Here are some keywords that describe the brand were trying to build moving forward. micro-entreprenurial (teaching/educating) about international/exotic culture (food, clothing) comfort craftsmanship empowering (small-business entrepreneurs [people who arent doing fancy startups]) high quality goods inspirational, motivational travel Every post we make -- all our online interactions -- they should be in line with these words. This is also the basis of our social content strategy (which will be implemented by Melissa starting next week, woop woop.) So apart from that... whats new? - Going to turkey on November 26th. Going to take lots of photos and squeeze all the content I can out of the trip. - Launching social media campaign on monday. - I got a quote for shipping From Denizli, Turkey via DHL ocean. It was about ~850 dollars. Not too bad, but im going to try to bring it down to 600. -Were going to apply for the business plan competition and try to win 20,000. I like to believe we stand a chance seeing as our concept has already, sort of, been validated! Asif is helping us tremendously with that, and will be helping formalize our business plan and everything going forward. -Weve been doing really well with the pestemal keyword niche without even formally working to get backlinks, so were starting to move into targeting turkish towels (a bigger niche.) :) So... thats it! Let me know if you guys have any questions, id be happy to
