So I’m watching the Little League World Series; a kid half - TopicsExpress

So I’m watching the Little League World Series; a kid half swings and the ball hits something. The Umpire awards the kid first base, stating he was hit by the pitch. The other team, disputes the call and they spend the next 3-4 minutes watching replays. After more discussion, the call is overturned because the review indicated that the ball did not hit the kid. Do you know how we would have solved that when I was a kid? The Umpire would have asked the kid if the ball hit him or not. Is it unreasonable to think that common sense could have solved this, or am I just that much closer to sitting on my porch and telling kids to “get off my lawn?”
